Volunteer Memphis Distributing 2,000 Free Wellness Kits

Volunteer Memphis Wellness Kit Giveaway Details

MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 26, 2022 – Volunteer Memphis is distributing 2,000 free health and wellness kits to at-risk populations from now until September to combat health disparities in Memphis as part of a grant-funded program from Memphis Housing and Community Development. Volunteer Memphis volunteers will hand out the wellness kits in partnership with Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), Meritan, Inc., and Community Alliance for the Homeless. The wellness kits will be available at multiple events throughout the summer and anyone wanting to know where they can pick up a free kit can find more information on the Volunteer Memphis website at https://volunteermemphis.org/wellness-kit-giveaways/.

 

“We are proud to partner with these incredible organizations to distribute 2,000 health and wellness kits to low-income people, home-bound seniors, and the unhoused population here in Memphis,” said Shelby Stonecipher, Director of Volunteer Memphis and Community Outreach, “These communities have long been underserved and we are grateful to Memphis Housing and Community Development for giving us the opportunity to get these people the resources they need.”

 

The free health and wellness kits include personal protective equipment, COVID-19 tests, hygiene products, bus passes, socks, educational materials, and much more. People must be clients of Memphis Housing and Community Development to receive a free kit and they can show their Tenncare or SNAP benefits card for verification.

 

The next giveaway of the health and wellness kits will be held at the free Sleeves Up Shelby County Summer Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Frayser Park at 2907 N Watkins Street.
