Volunteer Memphis takes an active role in helping nonprofit agencies in the community develop and strengthen their volunteer programs to meet their own missions more effectively.  

Community Services brings individuals and organizations together to address community needs by:

• Recruiting and directing adult and youth volunteers

• Maintaining an on-line, searchable database of volunteer opportunities  as well as publishing a monthly calendar. 

• Providing volunteer referral and management training to non-profit agencies.

• Promoting volunteerism through the Spirit of Giving Awards and other events.

• Sponsoring Memphis Teen Volunteers, linking teens with non-profit agencies for ongoing summer volunteering as well as year round opportunities. 

• Sponsoring Family Matters, a program that connects families with opportunities to serve together.

• Acting as the official volunteer clearinghouse for Memphis and Shelby County in case of a major disaster through Disaster Preparedness.
