Board
Connection is a service offered by Volunteer Mid-South designed to
strengthen nonprofit organizations by developing the effectiveness of
their Boards of Directors and to support community-minded individuals and
corporations to find meaningful avenues of service. Program features include:

their missions

Recruitment and training of individuals interested in
nonprofit board service

Ongoing skill development and training opportunities for
individuals and organizations
Serving
on a nonprofit board can be tremendously rewarding.
Nonprofit organizations are looking for talented, committed
individuals to join their boards. Board
service requires consideration of both personal goals and an
organization’s needs. Board
Connection assists potential leaders in discovering the interests
and skills they can contribute, and helps organizations identify the
expertise and the people they need.

Board
Connection Program
Identifies,
trains and links
INDIVIDUALS interested in leadership positions on
nonprofit boards of directors.
Affords
COMPANIES an opportunity to link to the community and provide their
employees with valuable leadership training
Teaches
community members how to leverage their skills and experience for the
benefit of our community nonprofits in their work to achieve their mission.
Offers
a way to gain insight into community needs and concerns
Provides
NONPROFITS with educational opportunities and technical assistance for
board development, recruiting and orienting.

For Individuals: "Effective Board
Service"

Are
you considering board service, or desiring to be more effective in your
current role as a board member? This workshop will help new and
prospective board members gain an appreciation for the roles and
responsibilities of nonprofit boards, individual board members, board
officers, and board committees. Other topics will include: legal issues
for nonprofit boards, organizational life cycles, leadership transitions,
and effective meeting tactics.
The workshop will be engaging and interactive, and will include
opportunities for participants to apply the concepts and models to their
own organizations.
