Board Connection

Board Connection - Your Link to Leadership

For Companies

Nonprofit board service offers a means for your executives and managers to develop leadership and teambuilding skills outside the workplace.  At the same time, this form of nonprofit participation reflects positively on your company’s social responsibility measures.

According to research conducted by the American Express Foundation, nonprofit board membership hones the following leadership skills:

·        Shaping a strategic vision

·        Creating innovative solutions

·        Thinking conceptually and analytically

·        Influencing and negotiating effectively

·        Leveraging social networks

·        Collaborating effectively

·        Attracting and developing talent

·        Demonstrating initiative and accountability

These same competencies within your talent pool ensure your company’s competitive edge in the market place.

How Board Connection works:

You can join us in strengthening the community through volunteer leadership by offering Board Connection training to your employees (Individual rate $50, group rates available).  We make it simple by providing:

·               One “Effective Board Service” training session, where you will learn about the Board Connection program and a comprehensive and objective view of board service. The curriculum will cover key skill sets all board members must possess. Candidates learn what boards really do, how much time it takes, and what the role of a board member would be.

·              The opportunity to learn about community nonprofits with a range of missions, services, sizes and locations seeking board members.

·              Guidance throughout the process – to help match a candidate’s skills, personal requirements and interests with appropriate nonprofit boards.

·               A time-saving process for selecting a directorship.

 When to start: Now!

Training and matching services are offered throughout the year.  Candidates need attend only ONE session to learn how the program works, board roles and responsibilities, and more.

The next training session will be held in Fall 2008.

$50 per person.
